Mentors

Message sent via PM PRO at beginning of student journey:

Hello and Welcome!

My name is Tonya S., and I’m thrilled to be your mentor on this exciting grooming journey with the Paragon Distance Learning Program! With over 15 years in the pet industry and owning a grooming salon in downtown Detroit, Michigan, I’m passionate about helping you succeed. Your success means a lot to me! 😊

I’m here to guide you through this wonderful program. Here are a few important points to keep in mind:

Messaging and Photo Submissions: I check messages and submissions three times daily, Monday through Friday, at 9 AM, 1 PM, and 5 PM EST. Any submissions made by 9 AM on Saturdays will receive a response by 12 PM EST.

Resubmissions: If a photo submission isn’t successful, please reach out to me via the Distance Learning Program using the “CONTACT MENTOR” option when you’re ready to resubmit. Click the new message.  Make sure to include the lesson name and number in the subject line. For example: “Subject: 7.4 Time to Practice: Heavy Coated Bath and Dry.”

Groominar Network Membership: As part of your enrollment, you’ll receive a free, year-long membership to the Groominar Network at Learn2GroomDogs.com. Look out for a separate email with your personalized coupon on your enrollment day. Throughout the program, I’ll also send you helpful video resources to assist with your learning.

You can explore the Groominar Network here: Learn2GroomDogs.com

Please let me know your preference with learning and how you like to receive feedback, for example, I like to watch videos as support when I am struggling with grasping a skill. I also like direct feedback when I am not understanding a skill set.

Once again, welcome to the Paragon School of Pet Grooming Distance Learning Program! I’m excited to support you on this journey and can’t wait to see your growth as you work towards your career goals!

Best,

Tonya S.  😀

Hi Laila!

I just saw that you are now going to take level 1 through Paragon. I think that is great! It is essential to have great foundational knowledge for when you go into level 2, and level 1 will teach you that important information.

To get started, complete the following:

  1. Make sure you print your Student Timeline and Success Guide attached to your original welcome email.
  2. Click the link to watch the Welcome Call as that also has important program information New Students – Paragon School of Pet Grooming (paragonpetschool.com).
  3. Activate your free year of the Groominar Network if you haven’t already at www.learn2groomdogs.com/student-membership using coupon code newstudent12free as that is an excellent source of extra resources.

💡Some important information often missed:
–READ everything carefully! Lessons, messages, Student Success Guide…everything!
-All computer tests are open book tests.
-Photos are super important so don’t skip over that lesson in the beginning of your coursework.
-You must have a visible hand and groomer’s loop on the pet in all photos sent in on tests.
-You must have an ear that you both pluck and clean for your ears/nails photo submission test.
-You must have at least one curly coat (spiral curls) for your curly/wavy test.
-Your dogs for the bathing tests must be completely dry down to the skin on all parts of the dog.
-Natural Foot dogs only grow longer hair in the pads and in between the toes, not all over the foot.
-I always put notes on each test, so if you don’t pass or don’t get 100% then make sure to go back and read them.
-I always have example photos if you are unsure what we are looking for on any photo submission test!

🙋🏻‍♀️I am here to help!
I’m online to grade your photo submission tests and for any advice or questions. I am usually clocked in from 8:30-9:30am, 12:30-1:30pm, and 4:30-5:30pm M-F, and around 8:30-9:30am Saturday (Eastern Time). So, if you send me a message or need a test reset or graded and I do not get to it at once, I will as soon as I am on next. I do message to check in about once a week to make sure you are doing well, so make sure to check your messages and touch base!

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me anytime! Thanks!

Jen 😊

Tracking Journal

There are a minimum number of pets required for practice with each level.  The Tracking Journal will need to be started at the beginning of each level and submitted at the end of each level.  This assignment is graded as either a pass or fail.

In addition to photo submissions, students upload a PDF with all of their practice dogs listed to ensure they've met the minimum dogs.
